To be honest, I am not a huge fan of prologues (or introductions) so feel free to skip ahead. My name is Sarah Green and I am a librarian and a longtime reader of mysteries, especially those that take place in the past. I tend to look for books with female protagonists that take place within the last few centuries (except for Elizabethan England, natch), although not exclusively. I will read almost anything that falls into that sub genre but I do like some more than others and after a while they tend to bleed together.
Rational dress will be a place for me to collect my thoughts on books and will focus less on reviews or synopsis’; the reality is that the actual story means less to me than the quality of writing and research, the characters and other discourses that might be woven through a moderately complex who dunnit. Maybe others who enjoy similar books can get ideas of new reading material or give me tips, the new world wide web-it’s all about dialogue.

Hello Sarah,
I really should be working on editing the book on professional baseball in Vancouver tonight but I wanted to jot down a few lines to you. I am such a fan of Sherlock Holmes so, like you, I like mysteries from the past – especially the Victorian or Edwardian past. Now I know that Sherlock is not a woman but you know he did once fall in love with a woman – so he’s halfway there!! I love Holmes’ and Watson’s Baker street suite – so atmospheric, so period! When I get rich, I am going to decorate in Edwardian…
Anyway, enough of this rambling. I just wanted to say that the link to your blog will probably be up by Monday or Tuesday and then you can visit it and see it there under “Our Favourite Blogs – Literary” For that reason, could you give me – if you feel comfortable in doing so – a little information about yourself as a reader of old mysteries. How did it start? Have you ever followed anyone around Gastown with your magnifying glass and have you ever inhaled through that pipe?!! I want to give you a sentence or two when I send out notice of your incorporation into the world-wide network that is Grab News!
Thanks Sarah. I will be seeing you from behind Computer # 25 one of these days, I suppose.
Rod
